The Ara Pacis Initiative places Rome and, in particular, the Ara Pacis Augustae monument at the centre of a targeted project aimed to launch an active reflection on forgiveness, in its various religious and cultural meanings, as a moral, spiritual and political tool for achieving reconciliation for people. |

The heart of the Ara Pacis Initiative is a 'Council for Dignity, Forgiveness, Justice and Reconciliation'. It is an ethical, apolitical and non-confessional body that are exemplified by its' member 'witnesses' who have suffered personal and/or collective tragedy yet have made forgiveness the starting point of a new existence. The role of the Council is to engage people in making paths to reconciliation. |

Our Trustees Alexandra Asseily, Garrett Thomson, and our Research Fellow Scherto Gill have now become members of the Council. The GHFP also serves as a member of the Founding Committee and continues to finance and engage in the API's various peacebuilding projects. |
